According to LA Metro, here are some measures that you can expect to see as it responds to the COVID-19 pandemic:

• As of May 11, 2020 face coverings are required on all Metro buses and trains.
• Sanitation stations and hand sanitizer dispensers have been installed at major transit stops and stations to encourage both employees and passengers to practice personal hygiene, which is one of the proven ways to prevent contracting and spreading COVID-19.
• LA Metro has strengthened measures for cleaning and disinfection, focusing on frequently touched surfaces like handrails, elevator call buttons, and TAP vending machines. Buses and trains are cleaned at least once daily using EPA-approved disinfectants.
• Additional signage and other written communication are being made available on what members of the public can do to reduce the risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19.
• LA Metro is closing select entrances to subway stations where multiple entrances are available.
• Rear-door boarding is enforced for all buses. Those who require front door boarding and station elevator access will continue to have access in accordance with ADA regulations.

These measures to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 will work best when you follow good hygiene practices as advised by public health authorities.

Wash your hands or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Stay home and minimize non-essential errands or travel as much as you can. Cover your mouth with a tissue or the inside of your elbow when coughing or sneezing. Wear a face mask or a cloth face covering if you go outside your home, and maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet away from people who do not live with you.
