Does domestic violence only affect women?

Domestic violence can affect any gender, and can be perpetrated by any gender. According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, intimate partner violence (IPV) affects more than 12 million people in the United States every year. However, women are considerably more likely to experience intimate partner violence: from 1994 to 2010, approximately 4 in 5 victims were female.
