Position: Multimedia Content Producer (Racial Equity and Civic Engagement)

Description: The Filipino Young Leaders Program (FYLPRO) is in search of a part time Multimedia Content Producer for Tayo, FYLPRO’s media literacy and data innovation hub. Specifically, this temporary independent contractor position will support Tayo’s deliverables for the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA) racial equity and Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) civic engagement grant (for more information, visit ncapaonline.org/340kgrantracialequity).

The Multimedia Content Producer will create culturally tailored media content including explainers, fact checks, and other interventions designed to disrupt false, misleading, and inflammatory narratives related to or trending within the Filipino American community, with specific focus on efforts to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, as well as the promotion of cross-racial and inter-ethnic solidarity. Content will be heavily informed by insights provided by Tayo’s Media Researchers. Additionally, the Multimedia Content Producer will update relevant sections on the Tayo website and publish material on Tayo’s social media accounts.

This role will include training on Sprout Social, Junkipedia, and other social monitoring and listening tools. Experience with Canva is desirable, but not required. Examples of backgrounds that would be helpful for the position include graphic design, video production, social media management, media and communications studies, journalism, marketing/PR, Asian American and Filipinx/a/o studies, and an interest in popular culture.

Classification: Part Time Remote (Temporary Contract)

Duration: 5 1 /2 months (December 2023 to May 2024)

Hours: 10-15 hours per week

Compensation: $30/hour

Responsibilities:

- Create text articles, social media posts, graphics, and videos debunking mis- and disinformation narratives, with a minimum of three pieces of content delivered every week

- Contribute to printed and digital case study at the end of the grant term for distribution to community organizations

- Assist Tayo Media Researcher’s work in developing weekly and/or monthly reports summarizing insights related to mis- and disinformation targeting the Filipino American community
