As a companion piece to her documentary “A Thousand Cuts,” Ramona S. Diaz’s “And So It Begins” follows the 2022 Philippine election, and Vice President Leni Robredo’s run for office. The film also follows CEO and co-founder of Rappler and Nobel Prize Winner Maria Ressa and her battle to safeguard freedom of expression in the Philippines.
The documentary highlights the grassroots movement that former Vice President Leni Robredo embarks on during a political climate fueled by the age of misinformation and disinformation.
TAYO interviewed Robredo at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah in January where she was promoting the new film.
