Workshop: Learning From Our Histories: A Virtual Community Workshop on Intergenerational Politics - April 30

How do we talk about news and politics across generations and languages within our communities? What can we learn from our histories? In this interactive workshop, we will share stories and narratives of political frictions and tensions within our communities. We will also build skills on how to conduct an intergenerational oral history with a loved one and discuss best practices for courageous conversations. This workshop is intended for those who self-identify as Filipinx/a/o diasporic.

This workshop is part of a collaborative research project between the Alliance of Filipinos for Immigrant Rights and Empowerment (AFIRE), the Filipino Young Leaders Program (FYLPRO) and Tayo project, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Through participating in this workshop, there will be paid opportunities to participate in an oral history and focus group project on diasporic media and politics.

Tuesday, April 30, 5:30 - 7 pm CT
