The 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) is part of the Philippine government’s goal of protecting the human rights of women and girls and addressing all forms of gender-based violence as declared in the 1987 Constitution, according to the Philippine Commission on Women. 

The Republic Act 10398 declared November 25 of every year as the National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children and mandates government agencies “to raise awareness on the problem of violence and the elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls.”
