Los Angeles has closed all congregate meal sites operated by the county in order to prevent community spread of COVID-19, as of March 16, 2020. To ensure that older adults continue to receive critically-needed meals, packaged and frozen meals are being distributed at some of these sites. See here for a map with detailed plans for each meal site.
You may call your local meal provider to make arrangements. If you do not know who your meal provider is, call 1-800-510-2020 for assistance. Note that older adults 65 and older must send a family member, friend or caregiver who is under the age of 65 to pick up meals at these sites.
The Los Angeles County Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services (WDACS) has also launched a free pickup and delivery program. Critical Delivery Service will deliver groceries, household items, and other vital necessities to older adults and individuals with disabilities who are unable to leave their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Items may be delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at no cost to you. No application process is required, however, items must be prepaid and ready for pickup. Deliveries may be scheduled by calling 1-888-863-7411 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. You may utilize this service up to four times or 40 miles per month, whichever comes first.
