The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors placed a moratorium on residential and commercial evictions in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cities such as Los Angeles City, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, and several others included in the comprehensive list have enacted similar moratoriums.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors put a rent freeze on rent stabilized units in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles City. The California Tenant, Homeowner, and Small Landlord Relief and Stabilization Act of 2020 took effect on August 31, 2020. This law protects tenants with a COVID-related financial impact from eviction for nonpayment of rent. It also protects tenants from "no cause" evictions, meaning an eviction where the landlord does not state a reason.
