I was laid off and I lost my health insurance. How do I get free COVID-19 testing?

If you are a resident of LA County and you need to avail of a COVID-19 test, you should first call your Primary Care Provider or nearest Healthcare Center to get more information. If you do not have access to healthcare, the County of Los Angeles offers COVID-19 testing at no cost.

Free testing is available for people who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, fatigue, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, loss of sense of taste or smell, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. If you came into close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, you will also be eligible to take the test for free.

You may also be eligible for no cost testing if you work or live in places such as skilled nursing facilities, residential care facilities, or if you are a person experiencing homelessness.

If you are an essential worker with frequent contacts with the public through health care, emergency services, food and grocery, retail or manufacturing, public transportation, and education sectors, you may also be eligible for no cost testing from the County of Los Angeles.
