How do I use a face mask?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), masks help stop the spread of COVID-19 to other people. CDC recommends that you wear masks when you are out in public, when you are around people who do not live in your household, and when you cannot stay 6 feet away from others.
Here are some guidelines from CDC on how to use masks to help stop the spread of COVID-19:
- Wear a mask with two or more layers
- Wear the mask over your nose and mouth and secure it under your chin
- Masks should be worn by people who are two years old and above
- Masks should not be work by children younger than two years old, people who experience difficulty breathing, or people who are not able to take the mask off without assistance from other people
- Do not wear masks that are intended for healthcare workers such as N95 respirators
- Do not use gaiters or face shields because the effectiveness of these face coverings is unknown at this time
