What are the considerations for who gets the COVID-19 vaccines first?

Since the pandemic began, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has been reviewing data on COVID-19 and the vaccines in development. Before making official recommendations, the ACIP plans to review all available material to make an informed and ethical decision. The ACIP aims to make a decision that maximizes benefits and minimizes harm, promotes justice, mitigates health inequities, and promotes transparency.

The groups possibly considered for early vaccination if supply is limited are: healthcare personnel; workers in essential and critical industries; people at high risk for severe COVID-19 illness due to underlying medical conditions; people 65 years and older
